NICU Day 305:

Zariah had a good night, and has overall had a good day today. She was upset for a little bit this morning but is doing great at the moment. We have switched many meds around this week to try a new approach. Zariah’s tolerance is very high to some of her pain medications. Overall it seems to be working well so far. The rash on Zariah’s right leg is almost gone. We had a few smiles today but none I could get on camera. As I get any updates on transfer I will keep everyone updated. PRAYERS for a Peaceful Evening for Zariah, and for Continued Healing! ‪#‎PrayersAndShares‬ ‪#‎ZariahStrong‬‪#‎GoFundZariah‬ https://www.gofundme.com/27eww78w

WE ARE OFFICIALLY ACCEPTED💥!Meeting with Nationwide went GREAT! Plan is to transfer in 1-2 weeks. We are Extremely Happy! Nationwide has a 96% success rate for children with BPD coming from out of state 😀.
As a family this will be hard for all of us. I will move to Ohio for 1-3 years. Noy and Raven will stay here so Noy can work for insurance and have help with Raven. I’ve been on non-paid leave for the last 3 months. I am not sure if I will be abl

07-05-15 Update
Zariah has had a real rough morning and both of her IVs blew. Looking to possibly do a Tunneled Venous Cathartic surgery if we can’t get new access. IV team is working on Z now. Her oxygen saturation dropped to the 60’s when we came in the room 20 minutes ago. Scary!!!
I’ll update once we figure this out!

Warriors sharing the Great News and our new Hope!!! Thank you Nationwide Children’s Hospital!

My little friend Zariah was told she had no chance of survival…but recently has been in discussions with another hospital, who tell her that in their care, babies with her severe lung issues have a high 90% success rate!! Amazing! The power of prayer…pass it on!!

Update : 06-30-2016 at 12:30 hrs

Today Zariah’s blood gas results showed Zariah’s CO2 was at 123. This should be between 35-45. We switched Zariah to the CMV vent setting today to try to reduce her CO2 levels.

The first moments as a parent are ideally filled with wonder and joy. But for families whose babies are born prematurely or with health complications, those expectations are shattered as soon as their newborn is whisked away to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and hooked up to tubes and wires.

Pretty soon these parents are having conversations with doctors and nurses they never expected to have, facing difficult decisions, and most likely feeling unsure about whether their new baby is going to be OK. Understandably, the stress and exhaustion of life in the NICU takes a very real toll on parents’ mental health. Parents of children who have a stay in the NICU are at greater risk for anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for months or even years to come.

So whether you’re a parent or a well-meaning friend or family member, recognizing that a baby’s stay in the NICU can have a lasting impact is an important part of understanding the complex emotions surrounding birth and motherhood

If anyone has information to further Zaria’s progress please contact Shawn By email   sdonovan34@hotmail.com.

on 06-29-16 we did a awareness test with Zaria and noticed she would follow a person in the room with clear eye contact.
